ACP issues

Hi all.
Im new to all this and have just setup a new site.
I have noticed that I can access the ACP whilst registered as a normal user. I came across this after a friend of mine joined the site and informed me of this.
Also for some reason it keeps requesting you re enter your password every time you click onto another forum and will put new members off.
I have tried altering the settings for this but its still the same.
I realise since im new to this thats its probably a "schoolboy" error on my behalf and any information to correct this would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to disable the users permissions and they can no longer have access to the ACP panel.
Its really just the issue with having to keep putting the password in evertime you wish to view a forum on the board.
